  1. QRZ Lookup

  5. QRZ Lookup will locate entries in the QRZ¿ Callsign Data Base using call, name, city and state/province or zip/postal code.

  7. Merely double click the QRZ Lookup icon to run.   When the application starts, a single window will be displayed.  All functions, except for locating the databases, are performed using the page controller at the top of that window.

Before performing any lookups, the software will need to record the location of the QRZ¿ Data Bases.  Using the item ╥Locate Databases..╙ in the ╥File╙ menu of QRZ Lookup, navigate to the QRZ¿ CD and locate the folder named ╥callbk╙.  Highlight that folder and the button at the bottom of the dialog will display ╘Select ╥callbk╙╒.  Press the button and the location will be saved.

  11. The criteria entered for a lookup is NOT case sensitive.  Entries may be in upper, lower or mixed case.

  13. To Find:

  15. Call - push the ╥Call Sign╙ button, enter the call and press the ╥OK/Lookup╙ button (or the return key).  The name, address and other information will display in the window.  Note this finds only the exact call sign entered.

Name - push the ╥Name╙ button.  Enter at least the last name.  A full or partial first name will add an additional criteria.  Press ╥OK/Lookup╙.  The bottom portion of the window will display a list of all names that match.  Clicking on an entry in the list will display the information for the selected item.

  19. City-State - push the ╥City-State╙ button.  Enter a partial or full city name AND the 2 character code for the desired state or province (MA, AR, KS, etc.).  After pressing ╥OK/Lookup╙ a list will appear where individual items may be selected for full information display.

  21. Zip - push the ╥Zip╙ button and enter the desired zip or postal code.  Again a list will be built after pressing the ╥OK/Lookup╙ button.

  23. Resizing Columns:

  25. The columns in the list may be resized by placing the pointer on a divider in the header portion of the list.  The pointer will change to a cross and by pressing the mouse button, the column width can be changed.

  27. Printing:

Either the selected call information or the entire list may be printed.  (Selected call only if looking up on a call.)  The print job dialog will display with 2 radio buttons and the desired option can be selected.   The column widths may be resized before selecting the print command in the file menu so the list will fit properly on the print.  Or one can print using the Landscape setting in ╥Page Setup...╙.

A list may be exported to a tab delimited file.  An option (check box) is available after selecting the ╥Export...╙ item in the File menu to also export email addresses.  Note that the export will require additional time if the email address is desired.  After finishing with the Export dialog (clicking OK), a file dialog will appear so the location and file name can be selected.  Click ╥Save╙ to complete the export.

  35. The file can then be imported into Claris/Appleworks, FileMaker, or any application that allows the import of a tab delimited file.  This is to assist in the printing of address labels, name tags, etc.

  37. Copy Selected to Clipboard:

  39. The current selected call information (top part of the window) will be copied to the clipboard by selecting ╥Copy Selected: (Command-B) from the Edit menu.

  41. This copies the call, name, address, city, state, zip and any email address.

  45. Macintosh with a minimum 68020 processor or a PowerMac (PPC).
  46. Should function properly with a minimum of System 7.1. System 7.5 or greater preferred.  
  47. 3 meg free memory over system requirements.
